Things to do in Las Vegas that’s not partying

When heading to Las Vegas its reputation perceives itself as the number one party destination in the world. The bright lights of the strip, the glitzy casinos and the world class nightclubs are the main reason for this. However heading to Las Vegas we were determined to find out what else this awesome city has to offer that does not involve partying or drinking. 

Las Vegas is located in the Nevada desert and whilst the strip may be famous for partying the city offers so many national parks, natural wonders and exciting thrill rides that there really is so much more to just partying in Las Vegas.

So when you visit Las Vegas whilst you wait to party the night away, why not explore these things to do in Las Vegas in the day time.

 

Things to do in Las Vegas that’s not partying or gambling

Grand Canyon

One of the Natural wonders of the world and rightly so. This Arizona national park is not to be missed on any Las Vegas itinerary. We recommend viewing by helicopter at sunset like we did for the ultimate experience. 

You can reach the Grand Canyon in a variety of ways including bus, horse back rising, jeep safari’s and helicopters depending on your interest and length of time you have to visit and explore.

The Grand Canyon is nearly 5000km in size and is home to layered rock formations that make for the most beautiful viewing. Days could be spent exploring it’s beauty and covering all bases.

Seven Magic Mountains

The man made art pieces are a treat for the eyes in the middle of the Nevada desert. Seven models have been made reaching up to 35 feet high to really showcase the Nevada desert. The main aims to showcase the presence of humans in the Nevada desert and the artist done a great job in the concept and added another art exhibit to the tourism in Nevada.

This is the perfect photo opportunity.

Neon Museum

View old Las Vegas as you remember it from the movies as you marvel at the signs taken to the museum to rest. The museum is 2.62 acres and you can spend a ton of time marvelling at it’s wonderful collection. Sign’s from casino’s, hotels and businesses and even some from the Hollywood walk of Fame including Elvis’s star.

The stratosphere thrill rides and sky jump

The adrenaline junkie in you will be right at home by exploring the three thrill rides at the top of the Stratosphere along with those brave enough to jump off the top! 

3 rides sit on the roof top of the Stratosphere called X-scream, Big shot and High roller which will literally tip you over the edge of the highest building in Las Vegas.

For those looking to step a little further towards the adrenaline junkie in them you can take part in the sky jump to which you literally step off the Stratosphere and falls to the ground in an action packed experience

For those not looking for a thrill why not head up to the observatory to take in the view of the tallest observatory in the USA.

Dine at the top of the world

Dine in a revolving restaurant at the top of the tallest freestanding building in the United States. Fine dining at its best as you take in the 360 degree views as the restaurant moves showcasing both the Las Vegas strip and the surrounding desert.

We recommend visiting at sunset to really get a fantastic view that you will not forget in a hurry.

You might even catch a glimpse of the sky jumpers as they step off of the platform above.

Red Rock Canyon

Located at the edge of Las Vegas Red Rock Canyon is not to be missed. Red rock formations make up this national park that is popular with hikers and travellers alike. 

You can explore the trails to see the flora and fauna that has made the pro so popular and those wishing to get a little further can also explore by bicycle.

Camping is also permitted at certain areas for those looking to expand their trip to Red Rock Canyon.

Explore Fremont Street and the Zip line 

Fremont Street is old Las Vegas at it’s finest and you can find old school casino’s and attractions to show you what the Las Vegas strip may have looked like years ago.

For the thrill seeker in you take in the views of old Las Vegas from above as you glide above Fremont street on the zip line. Two separate zip lines glide access the sky of Fremont Street depending on your thrill level as you can choose from seated or superman style to get your speed up!

The oldest ride at New York New York

Hop on board the oldest roller coaster in America in New York New York. The big apple coaster takes you through New York at a fast pace to bring out the adrenaline junkie in you. As this is the oldest ride in Las Vegas watch your head you are in for a bumpy ride!

Explore the shops at Caesars Palace Forum and the Premium outlets

Want to grab a bargain or shop luxury for less. Head to the Las Vegas Premium outlets. 

Inside Caesars Palace Forum you can find an array of luxury designer shops to indulge in some luxury retail therapy. Big brand names such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Versace can be found as well as often some celebrity spottings.

For those more looking to grab a designer bargain you can head to the Las Vegas premium outlets. Explore all of the designers at outlet prices and fill your suitcase.

Explore the array of dazzling themed hotels

The Venetian is our favourite themed hotel, but others are equally as good such as Luxor, Caesars Palace and Paris. Dine alfresco in the malign restaurants and take in the views of the strip. Even take a gondola ride in Venice or climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris! 

Watch Ballagio fountains

Head outside the Bellagio hotel and wait for the show to start. The show is on every half an hour from 3:00pm-8:00om for you to see one of Las Vegas’s star attractions.

Watch in awe as the water, light and music set the scene for a truly unique show.

Hoover Dam

You can explore on it’s own or twin it with another tour such as that of the Grand Canyon. Th Hoover Dam is located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River and in between both  Nevada and Arizona.

You can explore the Hoover Dam by a coach tour or overhead in a helicopter to see the Dam at a different perspective.

Death Valley

A little way out from Las Vegas in California is Death Valley. Names after a group of pioneers who were lost here in 1850. This national park is a treasure in the USA formed of cliffs, mountains and is also one of the hottest places in the world.

The High Roller observation wheel

Owned by Caesars Palace the High Roller observation wheel is the world’s tallest observation wheel. Turning at a slow pace taking 30 minutes to get all the way around giving you time to take in the views of the Las Vegas strip and surrounding areas and desert. The wheel is 520 feet tall and gives you the opportunity to to see Las Vegas in a total different way.

Valley of fire

This national park gets it’s name from the red sandstone rock formations which are the national parks biggest draw. Located in Nevada and close by to Las Vegas this is the perfect stop of hikers to explore. Several other ways of exploring are also available such as bikes, buggy’s and helicopter tours.

Circus circus

Step inside a real circus inside a hotel as you marvel at the world class amusements at your feet. One of the oldest hotels in Las Vegas this hotel gives you a glimpse back in time as you take part in amusement rides, games and view the shows still on offer.

Gondola ride at the Venetian

Riding a gondola in the Venetian hotel transports you directly to Italy and gives you an authentic feeling of the grand canal. View both the inside and the outside of the hotel from your private gondola and listen to the sounds of the traditional music as you are serenaded. Authentic Italian restaurants are also surrounding the canal allowing the real Venice vibe.

Shark reef at Mandalay bay

Take a look at the largest aquarium in North America with the largest range of reef, white tip and sand sharks for you to watch and marvel at.

For thrill seekers you can also take part n driving in the shark tank with a qualified diving instructor as you scuba alongside these gentle sharks.

No trip to Las Vegas is complete without a visit to the Las Vegas sign. Be prepared for a queue as you prepare to get your shot to show you have been to Las Vegas!

Touristy but still worth the shot!

 There is so much more to Las Vegas than just partying! Be sure to head to as many stops on our list as possible to explore this city in all of it’s glory. Or party during the night and explore all of these sights in the day.
