Rome is a photographers and Instagramers dream! With so many iconic sights and pretty picturesque neighbourhoods we never wanted to put our camera down. We explored the city step by step looking for the best photo spots in Rome and the most Instagrammable locations including sights, neighbourhoods and cafes.
Roem is Italy’s capital city and so much history meets the new chic cosmopolitan vibe of the city there sure is something for everyone. Traditional bucket list sights such as the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum stand out to all visitors, however smaller cafes and alley way streets are sometimes the best spots for your photos with nobody around.
Getting the shot at some of the biggest sights can be hard work. We already mentioned that Rome is Ialy’s capital and the bucket list sights really do draw in the crowds. The best thing to do to avoid this is get up super early and enjoy Rome as the sun rises. It may be hard but seeing an empty Rome really is worth the early start.

The Trevi fountain
The Trevi Fountain is the largest fountain in the city and packed full of architectural delight and history. Construction started in 1732 and since then it has remained as one of the most famous fountains in the world. It has graced many a Hollywood movie and you can have your turn on throwing in your coin and making a wish.
The key is to arrive early as soon as the sun is coming up to view the fountain without the huge crowds of people! Spend some time to take your photos before throwing in your coin. If you visit later in the day the crowds at the fountain are simply unbelievable. Visiting at sun rise gives you excellent lighting and the fountain shines in the morning sun.

The Spanish steps
Located in the square with the Spanish Embassy the Spanish steps are definitely the main attraction.At the bottom of the steps you can find a fountain called Fontana della Barcaccia which is also worth a photo. The steps consist of 12 flights of stairs varying in width as the steps grow longer as you approach the bottom end.
The Spanish steps are conveniently located close by to the Trevi Fountain and make for the perfect place to visit together. Once you have taken your photos we advise grabbing a coffee and watching Rome wake up from the steps.
The Vatican
The Vatican is a city in it’s own right that is surrounded by Rome and houses the capital of the Roman Church. Home to the pope it is holy place at all times and your clothing should reflect this.
The Vatican Square is beautiful with the overlooking of the Vatican and all of it’s buildings. The most beautiful grand area which plays host to the Sistine chapel and St Peters Basillica. Take some time to catch your photos outside by the amazing fountains.
Be aware there are parts of the churches that you re unable to photograph particularly inside the Sistine Chapel.
The Colisseum outside
The Colisseum really is the most grand building and one of the largest buildings to view in Rome. Originally a Amphitheatre home to gladiators that fought until the death the Colisseum is packed full of history. At any one time the Colisseum used to house up to 50,000 spectators to the games inside.
Outside lots of roads and ledges which lad up to the Colisseum play host to the most amazing views of the Colisseum. Be patient in your wandering to find the best views.

Inside take a seat on the edge and marvel at this epic world heritage site as you image what used to go on here. Lots of the original architecture still remains and you are able to step back in time.
Pantheon
This grand building makes for a great photo, be sure not to miss it and the surrounding fountains as you take in the idillc square the Pantheon is located in. A formal tempe and now home to a church the Pantheon is one of Rome’s star attractions.
The Pantheon is also home to some very important burials which you can go inside to views.
Piazza Navona
Located in the centre of Rome is Piazza Navona the cutest square in which fountains, sculptures and the Piazza Navona can be seen. Restaurants and cafes grace the edge of the square making the perfect place to stop for a drink or a bite to eat and take in the picturesque view. The area is famous for artists who come to the square to marvel and draw inspiration from the beauty.
Di Ponte Umberto
All the way along the water’s edge the beautiful bridges can be seen to watch Rome go by. So many stops along the edge make for the perfect photo.
From the top you can see views of the Vatican and many roof top attractions. This is also the perfect sport to view sunset over the city.
You can also walk down some of of the many steps to reach the river level to take in the view from a different perspective.
Travestre neighborhood
Beautiful old buildings and traditional Italian architecture makes for the perfect photo as you explore this neighbourhood by either foot or peddle bike.
The colourful buildings give you a glimpse of old Rome as you marvel at the architecture of traditional Roman apartments and houses.
Small local restaurants and bars in this area make for the perfect place to take in the neighbourhood and get out of the busy city buzz.
Monti Neighborhood
Located close to Vatican City is the Monti neighbourhood. Hanging ivy and flowers everywhere make Monti possibly the prettiest neighbourhood in Rome.
All of the restaurants, bars and shops fit the same theme a you marvel at the most natural street in Rome and one to spark the naturist in you.
