Things to do in Miami

Miami is located in the state of Florida in the USA and is the perfect destination for a holiday, city break or top over if you are embarking on a cruise. Miami is a very popular destination for cruise embarkments including the largest cruise ship in the world. The constant cruise’s embarking and make Miami a hugely popular city with tons of tourists flocking there all year round due to the beautiful weather and being a gateway to the Caribbean and South America.

Miami is also a hugely multi-cultural city and the Spanish influence is everywhere as well as highlighted in specific areas such as Little Havana and Espanola Way. We absolutely loved the vibe and will definitely be back.

Things to do in Miami

Little Havana

Little Havana is Miami is an area packed full of the Cuban influence in Miami. The area is home to tons of Cuban bars and restaurants serving traditional Cuban drinks and foods such as traditional Cuban sandwiches. Head to Domino Park and watch locals play dominos or take a wander down the Cuban walk of fame. If you are a smoker, head into one of the many cigar shops to either make your own cigar or choose one of the most famous Cuban cigars.  

Boat Trip

A boat trip in Miami is a must and you can spend time exploring the canals and back waters before heading out into the Miami harbor to see the yachts and millionaires houses which are certainly not to be missed!

Wynwood Market Place

The Wynwood area of Miami is a trendy, cool spot to head for some shopping, food and drinks and to take a look at the excellent street art that marks so many  of the walls. Wynwood market place is an industrial style market with food and drink stalls, music and even a roller blading rink.

Espanola Way

Espanola Way in Miami is a walking only street that is beautifully decorated with fairy lights and lush greenery. The street is packed full of fantastic restaurants from tapas, Cuban to Mexican and Italian. The food here was some of here best we had in Miami and we definitely recommend a visit.

South Beach

The South Beach area of Miami is of course worth a visit. I mean can you say you have been to Miami if you have not visited the famous South Beach. The beach was beautiful with white sand and blue water. You can chill on the beach, work out on muscle beach or enjoy the beach from one of the many cafes and restaurants looking out onto it.

Ocean Drive

Another famous Miami area is Ocean Drive. Take a walk down Ocean Drive and marvel at the beautiful beach. There are tons of cafes, restaurants and bars lining the street to give you the perfect place to look on. We stopped at a a bar with a small rooftop which allowed us to see Ocean Drive from above.

Bayside

The Bayside area is popular for those heading out on a cruise ship. Bayside Market place has lots of bars and restaurants that overlook the harbor to see the smaller boats and the cruise ships come by. The area was busy and lively with live music and dancers. We had a great brunch at Bacon Bitch and loved the fun concept.
